Three small steps to help your EYJA profile summary stand out!

These three small steps will make a big difference to how many people view your EYJA profile.

Your EYJA profile summary is hugely important – it is your first point of contact with a potential employer or employee, as this is what they see if your profile appears in their search results.

You only have a very short amount of time to make a big impact though, because users will glance at your profile summary for just a few seconds as they scroll down through the results of their search.

Therefore it’s imperative that your profile summary piques their interest, making them want to find out more about you, and what you offer. Here are our three top tips to making your profile summary grab their attention – get this right and you’ll make all the connections you need!

Step one – Have a great profile picture

The first thing you absolutely must do is upload a profile picture. It’s been proven that profiles with images are much more appealing than those without, so you’re already doing yourself a disservice if you don’t include one.

However, not any old photo will do. It’s important to choose a photo that portrays the right kind of image to a potential employer or employee. Make sure the photo you choose is of yourself (obvious, but still!), up to date and, of course, suitable for a professional website.

A clear image of your face is important, but full body photos can also be good for showing a potential employer/employee your height, build, and any physical conditions, as some PA users may need manual lifting or other physical assistance.

Finally, make sure you’re the focus of the image and particularly refrain from using random images, memes, or pictures of your pets etc. These tell the viewer absolutely nothing about yourself, and do not portray a very professional image.

Step two – Make the most of your ‘Message’

The ‘My message’ section of your EYJA profile may be small, but it’s very important. It appears on your profile summary and is the first thing potential employers or employees will see alongside your profile picture. In many cases this will be what makes them decide whether to look at your profile in more detail, so make the most of it.

Therefore consider what are the most important things a reader should now. For PAs this may be your availability, skills, experience or location. For PA users, this might be the available vacancy, your location or any specific requirements/needs you may have.

This section is also the best place to announce an emergency vacancy or short-term cover opportunity that has arisen, so if you have an urgent need, make sure this information is front and centre!

Step three – Ensure you have an exceptional response rate

Your response rate shows how often, and how quickly, you respond to messages from other EYJA members. Therefore it is likely to impact how many proposals you receive going forward, as it’s more probable that users will choose people they know are reliable and polite enough to respond.

As a sign of professionalism we recommend that you answer all inquiries you receive, even if they are not the right fit for you. A polite decline message is a simple sign of mutual respect, which will also help you keep your response rate high.

EYJA’s response rate calculator monitors how often you respond to messages and shows this as a percentage on your profile summary, for all to see. With this in mind, we strongly recommend that you aim to keep your response rate at 100%.

All newly registered members begin with a 100% response rate, and it is worth noting that the response rate calculator only counts your responsiveness to the first message sent by a new member. This means that if a member contacts you again, you won’t be penalised if you choose not to respond.

Effort is rewarded

Putting the time and effort into developing a straightforward, informative profile summary and choosing a professional friendly photo will be rewarded.

By helping your profile to stand out, you’re likely to make more connections and potentially find the right job or new employee more quickly. We wish you all the best in your search!
